Gannet pre-takeoff checks

When getting ready to take off, gannets will express this to their partners by raising their head and looking to the sky before flying. This closeup, taken at Bempton Cliffs, UK shows a gannet popping out from its perching spot behind some daisies and getting ready for flight. Sometimes they go to get food, nesting material or just to fly around in circles before landing again!
