Gannet launching into flight

Gannets are great birds to watch and thankfully quite easy to photograph. You can predict some of their actions by how they move and where they look beforehand. For instance, when they are about to take off, they will often point their head to the sky, hunch their wings up and poise themselves ready for a jump. This photo was caught just as the gannet lifted into flight, after having been given at least 5 seconds of notice!
