Roy's Motel & Cafe, Amboy, California

One of the great things about travelling Route 66 is the entire thing is basically a living museum harking back to what many would refer to as the United States' heyday. One unforgettable remnant of these halcyon days lives on in the ongoing restoration project that is Roy's Motel & Cafe, with its huge neon sign seen here recently having been relit. Modern day Amboy is a mere shadow of its past, a once thriving town which, when bypassed by the Interstate road, saw business dry up rapidly.
