Gas flare

A gas flare stack at an oil refinery enthusiastically burns off a huge jet of gas; a byproduct from the crude oil refining process that is cheaper to dump into the atmosphere rather than store. I could see this from miles away on my journey to the seaside and pulled off to get this shot, which is about as close as one can legally get to the refinery. The irony of this happening on what would turn out to be a record breaking day for heat in England was not lost on me...
