Great Crested Grebe & Humbug
Something I am treated to each year on the lakes near me are the families of Grebes, thankfully thriving, that show off their young each spring. This one, still very young and vulnerable, sat on one parent's back while another fished for a meal. The chicks are nicknamed humbugs because their striped appearance bears resemblance to humbug mint sweets.
