The local Wigeon
Description
I recently spotted this Wigeon on the canal near where I live. A Wigeon is a type of duck, not exactly uncommon but not as ubiquitous as Mallard. At first the bird looked like a youngster or a female, but he has started to moult into drake plumage as seen here. When mature, he will have a bright forehead, a pink chest and a mottled grey back and flank.
